Letter H Activities for Toddlers

Updated: 5 hours ago

H is our eighth letter. At ages 2 to 4 the goal isn't writing it. It's hearing the /h/ sound at the start of words like horse, house and hat.
Here's everything we use for Letter H, all in one place. Pick one or two, or spread them across a week.
Talk about it
Talk About It: The Letter H. H makes an /h/ sound at the start of words like horse, house and hat. You'll find a few questions to ask and a one-minute way to show it.
Snack
Letter H Snacks. Hummus, honeydew and ham. Your child hears the /h/ sound again and again, builds a big H on the plate and then eats it.
Play
Wipe Out. Write H and the letters A to G all over a whiteboard, call one out and let your child wipe it away.
Read

Every child is different. Please use your own judgment about what's safe and right for your family. Always supervise children during activities and while eating, and adjust foods for allergies, dietary needs and your child's age and chewing ability.
