Number 8 Activities for Toddlers

Updated: 5 hours ago

Eight is one more than seven: one whole hand and three more fingers. At ages 2 to 4 the goal is counting real things, one at a time, and knowing that the last number you say tells you how many.
Here's everything we use for Number 8, all in one place. Pick one or two, or spread them across a week.
Talk about it
Talk About It: The Number 8. Eight is five fingers on one hand plus three on the other, and it's how many legs a spider has. You'll find a few questions to ask and a one-minute way to show it.
Snack
Mini Pumpkin Muffins. Stir, scoop and count the muffin cups, then put eight muffins on a plate and count them again.
Play
Fill It Up. Draw a giant 8, count out eight pom-poms or blocks and set them inside the lines.
