Letter B activities for toddlers: snack, play, book and free printable

B is a bouncy letter. At ages 2 to 4 the goal isn't writing it. It's hearing the /b/ sound at the start of words like ball, bear and bus, and feeling it pop on your lips.

Here's everything we use for Letter B, all in one place. Pick one or two, or spread them across a week.

Watch

Talk about it

Talk About It: The Letter B. The big idea: B says /b/, and you can feel it pop on your lips. You'll find a few questions to ask and a one-minute way to show it.

Snack

Letter B snack plate: banana slices, blueberries, black beans, broccoli and a bowl of yogurt, with a capital B made from bread and banana slices

Letter B Snacks. A whole plate of foods that start with the /b/ sound, like banana. Your child hears the sound again and again, then builds a big B out of snacks before eating it.

Play

Rip Strip, a project for toddlers from Sprocket & Sprout

Rip Strip. Maybe the easiest letter game there is. You write letters down a long strip of paper. Your child tears between them, then names or finds the letters they've torn off.

Every child is different. Please use your own judgment about what's safe and right for your family. Always supervise children during activities and while eating, and adjust foods for allergies, dietary needs and your child's age and chewing ability.
