Letter G Activities for Toddlers

Updated: 5 hours ago

G is our seventh letter. At ages 2 to 4 the goal isn't writing it. It's hearing the /g/ sound at the start of words like goat, grapes and gorilla.
Here's everything we use for Letter G, all in one place. Pick one or two, or spread them across a week.
Talk about it
Talk About It: The Letter G. G makes a /g/ sound at the start of words like goat, grapes and guitar. You'll find a few questions to ask and a one-minute way to show it.
Snack
Letter G Snacks. Snack time is all about the /g/ sound, like grapes. Your child hears the sound again and again, builds a big G on the plate and then eats it.
Play
Spider Web Letter Sort. Tape a web across a few bins, give each one a letter, then poke letter cards through the web into the right bin.
Read
Walter's Wonderful Web by Tim Hopgood. Our Letter G day book pick. A little spider tries web after web, and every one is a different shape. Get the book on Amazon

Every child is different. Please use your own judgment about what's safe and right for your family. Always supervise children during activities and while eating, and adjust foods for allergies, dietary needs and your child's age and chewing ability. Sprocket & Sprout shares these ideas for fun and learning only. We are not responsible for any injury, allergic reaction, damage or mess that may result from trying them.
