Letter C activities for toddlers: snack, play, book and free printable

C is a tricky letter because it borrows its sound. At ages 2 to 4 we keep it simple and listen for the /k/ sound at the start of words like cat, car and carrot.

Here's everything we use for Letter C, all in one place. Pick one or two, or spread them across a week.

Talk about it

Talk About It: The Letter C. The big idea: C often says /k/, a sound that starts in the back of your mouth. You'll find a few questions to ask and a one-minute way to show it.

Snack

Letter C snack plate: carrots, cucumber rounds, cheese cubes, corn, cantaloupe and a capital C made from crackers

Letter C Snacks. A plate full of foods that start with the /k/ sound, like carrot. Your child crunches their way through it, then builds a big C out of snacks before eating it.

Play

Sock Match, a project for toddlers from Sprocket & Sprout

Sock Match. Matching socks becomes a letter game. Lay out letter cards in pairs. Your child finds the two that match, then folds them together like a pair of socks.
