Thanksgiving table questions for toddlers

Thanksgiving dinner is long when you are three. These questions give your little one a turn to talk, and they give the grown-ups something better than "sit still." Ask one or two, then let them ask you one back.

12 questions to ask at the table

  • What is your favorite food on the table?

  • What color is on your plate the most?

  • Who is sitting next to you? Who is across from you?

  • What is something that made you laugh today?

  • What is one thing you can do now that you could not do when you were a baby?

  • Who helped you today? How did they help?

  • What sound does a turkey make? What other animals live on a farm?

  • What do you like to do with Grandma, Grandpa or another grown-up here?

  • If you could add one food to this dinner, what would it be?

  • What is your favorite thing to do outside when it is cold?

  • What is something kind you can do for someone at this table?

  • What do you want to do first when dinner is over?

A tip for the grown-ups

There are no wrong answers. If your child says the turkey is purple, ask what a purple turkey eats.
