Letter F activities for toddlers: video, snack, play, book and free printable

F is our sixth letter. At ages 2 to 4 the goal isn't writing it. It's hearing the soft, windy /f/ sound at the start of words like fence, farm and feather.

Here's everything we use for Letter F, all in one place. Pick one or two, or spread them across a week.

Watch

  • Meet the Letter F. The Letter of the Week segment from Episode 6: the big and little F, the /f/ sound, and F words like fence, farm and feather.

  • The Letter F Song. A surf-rock sing-along that says the F sound again and again.

Talk about it

Talk About It: The Letter F. F makes a soft /f/ sound: rest your top teeth on your bottom lip and blow. You'll find a few questions to ask and a one-minute way to show it.

Snack

Letter F Snacks, a snack for toddlers from Sprocket & Sprout

Letter F Snacks. Snack time is all about the /f/ sound, like fish. Your child hears the sound again and again, builds a big F on the plate and then eats it.

Play

Salt Trail, a project for toddlers from Sprocket & Sprout

Salt Trail. Pour a thin layer of salt in a tray and draw an F with one finger. One gentle shake erases it, so you can draw it again.
